Orna Mintz is a designer, sculptor and multidisciplinary artist who has fused art and craft for over four decades. After years of creating grounded, earth-bound monumental works, she is now exploring her desire for lightness and a deeper spiritual connection. This exploration takes on profound meaning in the spirit of our time, highlighting our yearning for refuge amid chaos, the reminder that everything is transient, and the recognition of nature’s immense power and the raw materials that surround us.
She works with basic materials to create minimalist, abstract objects that subtly reference Japanese minimalism, as well as influences from pyramidal cultures and the African continent. Mintz draws inspiration from the visual simplicity of organic nature and still life. Over the past year, Mintz has been creating large-scale mobiles – or as she describes them, “drawings in space” – composed of clusters of small amorphous wooden works.
